Week 1- entry 1

This is a very difficult assignment to understand from the first go, however after getting advice from my teacher and brother on report writing, blog entries and oral presentation; I found out that I was up against a big challenge.

A challenge that will make me stress and work for the next Six (6) weeks, so it is up to me to research, write letters, make phone calls and ask a lot of questions to make sure I am on the right track and get the experiment done with results and supporting conclusions.

Choosing a topic was a very tricky task to do. It took me over one (1) week to decide a topic which is:

1. Realistic (real to everyday life)

2. Can get results and find a conclusion.

So I decided to choose the topic ‘the effect of swimming attire on the speed of a swimmer’.

In saying this, the aim is to investigate the effect of swimming attire on the speed of a swimmer and to show how my experiments & results relates to everyday life as well as why my research is important.

I researched  Roseland Aquatic Centre opening hours & contacts:

RE: Permission to conduct school experiment at your venue

Dear Sue( Manager),

I Eihab Taouk of St Charbels College ask for permission to use the swimming pool at Roseland Aquatic Centre to conduct a school experiment for the next of Six (6) Weeks.

This will require me to perform speed experiments in the water with different types of clothing i.e. fully dressed in ordinary clothing, swim suit, short and Speedos.

I spoke to you earlier today and you said to me “that it is alright to use the swimming pool, as long as you put it in writing”.

I thankyou deeply for helping me and appreciate you for allowing me to use Roseland Aquatic centre to conduct my experiment.

Any questions or problems please contact me on 0410423202.

  1. Eihab,

I really enjoyed your blog, well done. You have covered the aim and hypothesis, you still need to research your topic before designing your experiment.
    Well done!!
